Nordjyske Medier visits Cambridge Evening News
Sometimes it’s good to visit other newspapers to gain knowledge and experience from industry colleagues with whom you don’t compete and who are therefore ready to share confidential information and experience of “what works and what doesn’t”
As MatchWork has client partners in 5 countries, it is possible to organise visits which focus on online job advertising and address what both parties consider to be equal market challenges even though the markets are in different countries. In this context, Nordjyske Medier – a regional Media Group - covering the Northern part of Jutland in Denmark - visited Cambridge Evening News in England on 15th May 2008.
Nordjyske Medier has been a MatchWork client since 2001 but is now planning to put much greater emphasis on online development and is planning to be launching a massively upgraded website in Q4 2008.
Anders Vogelsang Gallop, Key Account Manager at Nordjyske Medier, takes up the story:
“With plans to focus more on our online activities and therefore initiate a major upgrade of our job site, we wondered if we could find another MatchWork client partner with a long history with MatchWork. With the help of MatchWork Denmark and MatchWork UK office, a team of five visited Cambridge Evening News.
Our colleagues in Cambridge gave us a superb presentation and introduction to online job advertising and portal marketing. They also explained how they handle specific sales opportunities and advertiser enquiries and what market expectations they experience today.
We were able to ask lots of questions, look at a complete range of marketing materials and take away samples which significantly advanced our knowledge and capabilities. – In all, an invaluable experience, both professionally and socially.”
And Anders adds with a smile: “One day we’ll be ready to do the same for another MatchWork client partner somewhere.”
Even though the markets are very different, it turned out to be an inspiring event for the Nordjyske Media representatives who returned to Denmark with a lot of ideas for Nordjyske Medier’s online job marketplace.
Conclusion? A huge knowledge base exists within the MatchWork universe which enterprising client partners are making good use of.
